I walk because every person is affected by heart disease, either individually or someone the know.
My mom passed at 55 of a heart attack. My father in law underwent 2 bypass surgeries. My daughter’s grandparents both died from heart disease. My nephew was born with transposition of the great vessels and became the first survivor of the surgery at Hershey Medical Center back in 1984.
I work in the healthcare field. I currently work in the cardiovascular operating room in a community hospital and see first hand what advancements have been made in the last several decades.
