Two weeks before running the NYC Marathon, my best friend- my Grandma Cookie- suffered a heart attack. A week later, she passed away. She was so excited, telling everyone she could that her granddaughter was running NYC. Though she did not make it to see my first marathon, I felt her presence the entire time. My grandfather also suffered a heart attack which caused his death in 1987, 10 years before I was born. Both of my grandparents have inspired me to run with the American Heart Association to bring more awareness to heart disease and hopefully inspire others to chase their goals. With love, I ask you help me run the Chicago Marathon with the AHA and donate in honor of both of my grandparents!
