As a breast cancer survivor, I've learned to stay vigilant, nurture my body, and protect my future health. What many people don't realize is that the same risk factors that contribute to cancer - like poor diet, inflammation, stress, lack of exercise, and environmental toxins - are also leading contributors to heart disease.
Cancer and heart disease aren't separate battles; they're connected in ways we're only beginning to fully understand. Women who have undergone cancer treatment are especially at higher risk of developing cardiovascular complications. That's why I'm running with purpose. Because heart health is cancer recovery. It's prevention. It's longevity. It's life.
The 2025 Dallas Heart Walk will be held on Saturday, October 18th. Since I cannot be there in person, I'm running a local half-marathon on Sunday, October 19th.
I'll be running with the American Heart Association on my back to raise awareness, to fight back with every mile, and to support our mission to fund research, education, and resources that save lives.
If you've ever been touched by cancer or heart disease...if you've lost someone too soon, or if you're fighting your own battle...you know how critical this work is.
Please consider supporting my run with a donation. Every dollar brings us closer to a world with healthier hearts and stronger survivors.
Thank you for cheering me on. I'll carry your support with me every step of the way.
With gratitude and hope,
Anne Miller
