I’m fundraising this year in memory of my late uncle, Bob Yurko.
Uncle Bob passed away suddenly on February 7, 2020, while playing golf at Pebble Beach in California. He was a devoted husband to my Aunt Sandy, a proud father of two, and a beloved uncle to all the children in our family.
Bob had a gift for listening—truly listening—and he made everyone feel seen, heard, and important. One of my fondest memories is a family fishing trip with Uncle Bob, his kids, and the rest of our crew, when we caught our very first bluefin tuna—without any help from our more experienced fishing friends. That day is still one of my favorite memories with him.
This year, I walk in his honor and to support the lifesaving education and research made possible by the American Heart Association. It’s my way of keeping his spirit alive and helping others live longer, healthier lives.
