Like so many, I’ve seen the devastating impact of heart disease and stroke—on those who suffer and the loved ones who support them.
Personally, I watched heart disease and stroke effect all of my grandparents. Two of my grandparents suffered from Atrial Fibrillation (AFib). This increases the risk of stroke by 5x the average person. My grandpa had a mild stroke, however my grandma had five strokes, mostly severe which required trips to rehab and affected her overall mobility. My other two grandparents both suffered from atherosclerosis (clogged arteries) which led to heart attacks.
The later years of their lives were greatly impacted due to these horrible diseases. Supporting AHA’s mission will help research to reduce these life altering impacts caused by heart disease.
