This walk used to be another day for me, making a difference. This year, it means something. This year it's personal for me. My father passed on March 28th, 2025, after suffering a massive heart attack at St. Luke’s Hospital at the age of 54. With no prior history besides a family history of both my paternal grandparents, there was no notice, no anything to point to this; he was taken too soon. So this is something so dear to my heart now.
This man was so active, so adventurous, so courageous, so healthy. He was selfless, willing to put the needs of others before his own… always. Someone whose laugh you’d hear from miles away, and whose love stuck around even when he wasn’t present.
I lost the most important man in my life to something I never expected. It was so unexpected & so unfair. So many days have gone by that I think about you & wish I could pick up my phone & call you. Every day, I know you’re looking down on what I do & are smiling. So proud & so excited that I am in this place in my life of growth & perseverance. I do this for you. Everything I do, I am doing to make you proud.

9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
On September 27th, 2025, I will be joining in the walk not only for the cause alongside family & friends for him. ![]()
