Help Me Save and Change Lives!

Welcome to my Woman of Impact Donation Page!

Fifteen years ago, at just 32 years old and pregnant with my son, my world changed forever. I was diagnosed with peripartum cardiomyopathy—something I never saw coming, especially after living a healthy and active lifestyle. That diagnosis led to my first heart transplant at 32, a gift that allowed me to keep living, loving, and fighting. But just over a year ago, I was humbled once again by the need for a second heart transplant—another life-saving gift. This time, my heart came from an ICU nurse named Christine, who was just 42 years old. I carry her heart with immense gratitude, honoring her life with every beat of mine.

So, what does the American Heart Association mean to me? It means hope. Hope that we can come together to bring awareness to the number one killer of women—heart disease. Hope that research and innovation will continue to save lives, just as they have saved mine. When I was first diagnosed, I had no idea how much heart disease affected women. Even though I had a family history, I never thought it could happen to me. And yet, even today, awareness among women—especially younger women—is still too low.

That’s why my call to action today is simple but urgent: Make your heart health a priority. Just as we schedule annual wellness visits for other aspects of our health, we must do the same for our hearts. Take control of your health, be your own advocate, and show up for yourself—because your health is your wealth.

I am living proof of what is possible with awareness, action, and the generosity of organ donors. Let’s honor those we’ve lost, protect those we love, and fight for a future where heart disease is no longer the silent killer of women. It starts with each of us. Let’s make a change—together.”
