As a nominee for Woman of Impact, I am honored to help bring awareness and education to the critical issue of women’s heart health.
As someone who works in and values the healthcare community, I believe we have a unique opportunity to lead the charge in pushing for greater awareness, education, and innovation in women’s heart health. By bringing this issue to the forefront of such an influential community, we can inspire action that goes beyond this campaign, fostering investments in research, innovation, and prevention strategies that can save lives.
Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women in the United States, claiming more lives each year than all cancers combined. Despite this, many women are unaware of their risk, with research showing that only about 44% of women recognize heart disease as their greatest health threat.
Education is especially vital. When women understand the unique signs and symptoms of heart disease—many of which differ from men—they are better equipped to advocate for themselves with their healthcare providers.
This campaign is an incredible opportunity to spark meaningful change, empowering women with the tools and knowledge to protect their heart health while inspiring our community to prioritize this life-saving mission. I am excited to contribute to this effort and to see the lasting impact it can have on women’s lives both here in Nashville and across the country.
With love and gratitude,
Melissa
