Many of us have been affected by a heart condition, heart disease, or stroke, whether personally or someone we know and love.
In 2018, I was diagnosed with a heart condition called Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia which required immediate surgery. My mother and several of my siblings have also been afftected by heart conditions as well. So as you can imagine, this walk hits close to home for me.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It is because of this I have also signed up this month to attend a local CPR class to prepare myself if the situation ever arises that someone is in distress.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today.
