I’m excited to be nominated for the American Heart Association's Leaders of Impact campaign. As part of this year’s class of changemakers, I’m dedicated to making a lasting impact on the health of our community and hope that I can count on your support!
The mission of the American Heart Association is a cause that's both personally and professionally important to me. In 1999, my husband lost his best friend who was struck in the chest by a lacrosse ball during practice, sending him into cardiac arrest.
That moment was life-altering, and it became a turning point in my own journey. It inspired me to pursue a career in cardiovascular care, where I could help prevent similar tragedies and advocate for meaningful change. I'm especially passionate about expanding access to Hands-Only CPR training, ensuring AEDs are available at every athletic facility, and advancing diagnostic imaging to help identify risks before tragedy strikes. I'm also proud to advocate for research and innovation in athlete safety, including the development of chest protection in contact sports.
It's about giving every athlete the chance to play safely and every person the tools to respond in a moment that could mean everything. Your support helps bring these life-saving tools and education to more communities, and together, we're working to protect every athlete and every heartbeat.
That’s why I am committed to being a part of this relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives for all. I believe in this cause and our ability to make an impact in our local community and across the country, and I'm asking for your support.
