My sister, Dee, and I walk in memory—and always in honor—of our mom, Carol Lynn Scogins, who we affectionately call Momma. We were her girls. If you knew her, you knew we were her pride and joy, and mostly all she talked about (sometimes much to our dismay!)

She raised us as a single mom, long before being a single mom was cool and celebrated. She was the strongest, bravest, and most fearless person I will ever know. She passed away on October 22, 2018, after a difficult battle with heart disease, along with many other complications. Our world stopped that day and was forever changed.

Team HEART & Sole was formed in 2018, while Momma was still alive, and she was able to attend our very first walk—even on a cold, blustery day in Syracuse, NY. Though she is gone now and our location has changed to Arizona, she remains an ever-present force in our lives. We live our lives in honor of her and hope every day that we make her proud.

Team HEART & Sole for Momma’s Girls will forever be.

Heart disease is still the #1 killer in our nation, closely followed by stroke at #2. If it hasn’t touched your life directly yet, the chances are high that it will.

We walk together not only for our mom, but for our own health—and for yours.
