As I continue to enjoy unwrapping each new day engulfed with love, peace and joy for the quality of life that has been gifted to me for the past 29 years, I remain ever mindful that to whom much is given, much is required. I thank God for all He continues to do in my life and I am also grateful to the American Heart Association for the work it does to amplify the significance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and for turning up the volume on reducing cardiovascular disease and stroke. Today, as you move to the beat of your own life's drums; hustling and bustling throughout the day, please take a moment take a deep breath and as you exhale listen to and feel the cadence of the rhythm of your heart beat. Your heart health is a serious matter!
Another year around the sun, I'm still here and the American Heart Association continues its mission to reduce cardiovascular disease and stroke in America. You are invited to join our team and walk in rhythm with us as we strive to help the American Heart Association continue its endeavor to save lives.
Heart valve disease is relatively common, affecting an estimated 5 million U.S. adults, though it is often undiagnosed because many people don’t experience symptoms. Valve malfunctions can be caused by a birth defect, aging or diseases that can scar a valve. When symptoms experienced, the most common are shortness of breath or being easily fatigued. Symptoms can be so subtle that people do not seek treatment until the condition has become severe.
Although I have experienced a few setbacks and had to undergo additional procedures, thriving and surviving for the past 29 years, has allowed me to become very familiar with my body and I recognize when it needs to slow down or acquire medical attention.
I am grateful for the life-saving measures made available to me throughout my journey. Someone not only prayed for me, but they also raised money for such innovative research. Won't you help me in my endeavor to keep paying it forward?
