My mother passed from heart failure in Nov. 2025. Unfortunately, 9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die, but we can help change this together. Donations to the American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Walk primarily support lifesaving scientific research, public health education, and community-based health programs. The AHA reports that approximately 80 cents of every dollar donated goes directly toward these mission-critical activities aimed at preventing and treating heart disease and stroke, the nation's No. 1 and No. 5 killers.
