2026 Rochester Heart Walk & Run: Blakerstrong

We will be walking this year in honor of my late father Keith Blaker. He fought a heart disease called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy for about 22 years, but was unfortunately misdiagnosed when he was a teenagers almost 17 years prior. Now my sister Emily, and I were just babies when dad really started to have difficulty, and we grew up learning the ins and outs of his disease and watching my amazing mother, Rebecca be my father caregiver and giving the vow "in sickness and in health" every single day, and he did the same for her.

If you knew my father, you would all agree with me that he lit up a room upon entering it, and usually was the last to leave because he was always lending a helping hand. He was the type of man to give the shirt off his back and never ask for anything in return. We would love to continue to honor him and what he lived through with supporting the American Heart Association in ways to continue research on heart conditions.
