My brother Marty's stroke in 2019 was a turning point. He survived a sudden brain bleed, and we were incredibly grateful when he left the hospital with a renewed chance at life. We believed we would have so much more time with him.
On April 19, 2026, he was taken from us. There is some comfort in knowing he died peacefully in his sleep, likely due to another stroke, an aneurysm, or heart-related complications, but Marty was 6 months shy of his 60th birthday. 59 is far too young, and losing my brother is the hardest thing I have had to endure.
Heart disease and stroke claim more lives each year than all cancers and car accidents combined. Yet, remarkably, up to 80% of these deaths are preventable.
In Marty's honor, we hope to help spare other families the grief of losing someone so deeply loved, far too soon.
Together, we can support research, raise awareness, and advance education to make longer, healthier lives possible for more people. Thank you for your support.
