Hi! I'm walking to raise awareness for heart disease and related issues. I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve and was always told it would never be a problem! In 2015, I found out at an unrelated doc visit that it was becoming a huge problem. Shortly after, I had a minimally invasive (through the ribcage) aortic valve replacement! I always struggled with cardio, even as a collegiate level cheerleader and a fitness and yoga professional. Nobody ever figured out why. I would get overheated and out of breath and it was always attributed to asthma. After my surgery I became an endurance athlete and can do all the cardio I want! I went from barely able to run a mile to completing 2 Half Ironman races, lots of other long distance running races, and Hyrox and Deka competitions! All things are possible, but early heart detection, diagnosis, and care are crucial! So get your heart health checked out to see where you are and if needed, develop a plan. Grab some friends and walk it out for heart health awareness! Below are some vital statistics to inspire you to donate and join us on the journey!
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today.
