Team Tessa

Shortly after Tessa was born we learned that she had a heart murmur. She had an ECHO done and it was discovered that she has a partial atrioventricular canal defect (AVCD) aka a hole between her left and right atria and a hole in her mitral valve causing mitral valve regurgitation. In simple terms this heart defect causes blood to flow the wrong way and leak backward, making the heart work harder and send too much blood to the lungs.

Due to the location of the heart defects it will require open heart surgery to close the holes.

Thanks to the incredible heart research that has been done throughout the years and the expertise of Tessa's cardiology team we know that our little heart warrior will remain stronger than ever.
