I support the Central Kentucky Heart Walk because heart disease and stroke have forever changed my life and my family.
On August 22, 2015, my life changed in an instant. My mom began feeling sick - nauseous and overheated, almost like she was having heat stroke. We didn't recognize the warning signs of a heart attack. When the intense chest pain began, we rushed her to the hospital hoping things would improve. Sadly, they did not. After seven difficult days, on August 29, we had to say goodbye to our precious mother.
Just four years later, tragedy struck again. On October 16, 2019, I found my dad unresponsive in his bed. He had suffered a massive brain stem stroke. Two days later, we had to say goodbye to our loving dad.
Heart disease and stroke run in our family, and losing both of my parents far too soon has made this cause deeply personal to me. I walk to honor their memories, to raise awareness of the warning signs we once didn't know, and to support the research and education that can help save lives and spare other families from the heartbreak we have experienced.
Every step I take at the Central Kentucky Heart Walk is for my mom, my dad, and for every family impacted by heart disease and stroke. \u200b
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.\u200b
