Why I Walk for the American Heart Association
I walk for all the women in my family.
My grandmother died young from a heart attack. Years later, my mother‑in‑law also passed away too young from a heart attack. Both were strong, caring women who spent their lives taking care of others—yet they were unaware of the warning signs of heart disease.
Their stories are the reason I walk.
I walk to honor their lives, and to help make sure other families don’t experience the same loss.
Heart disease doesn’t always look the way we expect, especially in women. That’s why awareness is so important. The American Heart Association is dedicated to educating people about heart disease, recognizing the signs early, and teaching life‑saving skills like CPR—so when the unexpected happens, someone is ready to act.
I walk to create awareness.
I walk to educate.
I walk so others may live.
