Sean wasn't supposed to be here with us today.
He miraculously survived an AVM bleed, flat-lined 3 times during embolization, and then had 2 Gamma Knife radiation surgeries over 20 years ago. He made a full recovery, relearned how to walk and talk, and then returned to the workplace to help me raise our 3 kids - We thought he had dodged a bullet.
2023 comes around and turns our world upside down once again, but this time - with layoffs and him collapsing, discovering 2 aneurysms. Although they didn't rupture and were caught early to monitor, he was now older so cognitive decline and vascular dementia are inevitably now his future. Sean's invisible disability and watching for stroke-like symptoms have become daily challenges we face together, despite our empty nest. Being his 24/7 caregiver has been a new walk for me as well. But every day he wakes up to fight and stay stable another day for me and our kids, so I get up each day, to be by his side.
Strokes and Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
We Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach our Toves family's goal today as We walk in honor of my husband the Survivor - Sean, their Dad, aka "Seannie Boy" to our family and friends.
Si Yu’us Ma’åse and Salamat!
