I’m proud to be part of a movement that is changing the future of women’s heart health because, for me, this isn’t just important. It’s personal.
Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, and the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women – Woman of Impact campaign is working to change that. I said yes to this campaign without hesitation, because I know how quickly heart disease can change everything.
I lost my dad to a heart attack when I was 15 years old. That loss didn’t just take a parent; it changed the way I see health, family, and the urgency of paying attention before it’s too late. It’s a reality that lives with me, and it’s why I care so deeply about this mission.
Women are too often underrepresented in research, overlooked in diagnosis, and misunderstood in treatment. Our symptoms can look different, our risks are unique, and yet we are still undercounted in care and funding. That’s not okay, and it doesn’t have to stay that way.
Because women are powerful when we stand together.
Together, we can push for research that includes women. We can raise awareness that leads to earlier detection. We can fight for care that recognizes women in every age, stage, and season of life.
This isn’t just about wearing red. It’s about protecting the women we love and making sure fewer families experience the kind of loss mine did.
