I’m proud to be part of a team of changemakers working to reshape the future of women’s health, starting right here in West Tennessee where my family lives and my children are growing up.
Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women, and it has touched my life deeply. I've lost family members far too early to heart disease and watched others suffer at its hands. As a healthcare provider, I’ve seen firsthand how quickly a heart event can turn a world upside down and how quickly the right knowledge, early recognition, and immediate CPR can save one. As a daughter, a mom, and a member of this community, I carry those experiences with me every day.
Heart disease unfairly targets women. For too long, women have been left out of research, underrepresented in testing and treatment, and overlooked in funding. Their voices haven’t been heard enough, their symptoms haven’t always been believed, and their unique needs haven’t been centered in the solutions meant to protect them.
But it doesn’t have to stay this way. That’s why I’m stepping forward. Because if there’s one thing women can always rely on, it’s each other.
Together, we can empower women with the education and tools they need to advocate for their own heart health. We can increase participation in research, improve access to care, and build health solutions designed with women in mind. We can create a community where every woman, from young students to grandmothers, has the knowledge and support to live a longer, healthier life.
For me, this work is personal. It’s about protecting the people I love. It’s about strengthening the community I serve. And it’s about making a lasting impact for every woman and family in West Tennessee.
It’s not just about wearing red or sharing heart health facts. It’s about standing together and refusing to let our greatest health threat continue unchecked.
