32 More Years. Countless Memories.
In 1994, my family was given 32 more years with my dad.
This year, I'm walking in his memory.
My dad suffered a heart attack in 1994 at just 56 years old. I was living across the country in San Francisco when I got the call that he had collapsed that morning. Thanks to a quick 911 call and immediate medical attention, my dad survived.
What followed was an extraordinary gift: 32 more years with him.
Thirty-two years of birthdays and holidays. The chance for him to see his five children married. The joy of welcoming eight grandchildren. And countless ordinary moments that, looking back now, were anything but ordinary.
We lost my dad in February, and this year's Dallas Heart Walk will have a very different meaning for me.
Last year, so many of you helped me raise $5,000 for the American Heart Association. Your generosity meant the world to me. This year, I've committed to raising $5,000 again as an Executive with Heart, but this time, I'm walking in honor and memory of my dad.
I hope you'll consider supporting me with a donation of any amount. Every gift helps advance lifesaving research, CPR education, and the work that gives more families the one thing we all wish we could have more of with the people we love: time.
And for my friends and colleagues here in Dallas, I'd love to have you walk beside me. I'm putting together a team for the Dallas Heart Walk on October 17, and you're invited to join me.
Donate. Walk with me. Or simply help me share my dad's story.
This one's for you, Dad.
