In I was diagnosed with " broken heart syndrome in 2018. My mother passed in 2016 and I refused to admit I was depressed. Thought I had a had cold. Went to my doctor on my mothers birthday July 7th, was sent to hospital immediately. My heart was pumping at 18%. At 42, I was determined to beat it. I DID! Came off vest, came off meds. Pumping at 65%. Early 2025 I started feeling tired, I instantly knew it was my heart. Back to pumping at 19%. I was devastated. We tried meds after meds. After many tests, it was found I have a genetic gene causing my lower heart muscle to slowly die. Feb 6, 2026 I had Defibrillator/Pacemaker put in my chest. This has been very hard for me because I am so independent and go whenever I want. It has slowed me down alot. So I decided to live as much as possible while I can. 2026 will be my first heart walk. Cheer me on friends!
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital don't survive. Most of the time, it's because no one nearby performed CPR. But together, we can change that.
Extraordinary things happen when people take action. A small step. A simple skill. A lifesaving moment. Heart Walk brings communities together to create health and hope for every heartbeat. Every walker who joins, every dollar donated, means more people trained in CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone.
Extraordinary starts with YOU. Help me reach my goal today!
