On September 19th, I'll be participating in the Heart Walk with my coworkers at Stanford Tri-Valley Hospital to raise money for the American Heart Association. â¤ï¸
This walk is especially meaningful to me because my dad passed away suddenly from a heart attack on September 22, 2018. His loss is something my family will carry with us forever, and supporting heart health is a cause that is very close to my heart.
One of the biggest reasons I'm passionate about this cause is CPR education. When someone experiences cardiac arrest, every second matters. A recent analysis of nearly 200,000 witnessed cardiac arrests found that people who received bystander CPR within two minutes had an 81% higher chance of surviving to hospital discharge compared with those who received no bystander CPR.
So, where does your donation go?
â¤ï¸ Scientific research — funding breakthroughs in heart and stroke treatment and prevention.
â¤ï¸ Public health education — CPR training and education focused on nutrition, prevention, and access to better health.
â¤ï¸ Professional training — supporting healthcare professionals through medical education, research, and clinical guidelines.
If you're able to donate, any amount would mean so much to me and my family. And if you can't donate, sharing this post can make just as big of a difference.
I'm walking in memory of my dad and in hope that fewer families have to experience the loss that mine did. Thank you for supporting me and this incredibly important cause. â¤ï¸
