Heart disease is more than a statistic to me. It has been a part of my family's story for decades.

Twenty-four years ago, I lost my father to heart disease. One of the hardest parts of that loss is knowing my daughter never had the chance to know her grandfather or experience the love, guidance, and memories he would have shared with her.

My mother has lived with a pacemaker for the past 27 years. On several occasions, that device has helped save her life, giving her  precious years and moments that she might not otherwise have had.

Heart disease has also affected me personally. After the birth of my daughter, I was diagnosed with an enlarged heart. That diagnosis  reinforced just how important heart health, research, and access to quality care truly are.  Heart disease can effect anyone at any age.

That is why I am raising money for the American Heart Association. Their work helps fund lifesaving research, supports patients and families, and advances education and prevention efforts that can make a real difference in people's lives.
