2026 Sioux Falls Heart Walk
Deryk's Tribe
In a heartbeat, you can be the difference.
This is our third year participating in the Sioux Falls Heart Walk, and our family would truly love your support once again.
Deryk Ulmer is the heart behind our team. Deryk passed away far too soon at the age of 28 due to a congenital heart defect he was born with. We are incredibly grateful for the research, doctors, nurses, and medical teams who gave us 28 wonderful years with him, but we also know it should have been longer. We believe it can be longer for children born with similar heart conditions today.
What started as a way to honor Deryk's memory has grown into something much bigger. Each year, participating in the Heart Walk is an incredibly meaningful experience for our family. It gives us the opportunity to celebrate Deryk's life while helping support research that can make a difference for others facing congenital heart defects.
Every year, approximately 40,000 babies in the United States are born with a congenital heart defect, that's about one child every 15 minutes. Donations help fund lifesaving research, treatments, and advances that give these children the opportunity to live longer, healthier lives.
As we head into our third year, our hearts are just as full and our purpose even stronger. We would be so grateful for any family members, friends, or supporters who would like to join our team, walk alongside us, or make a donation.
Thank you for continuing to walk with us, support this important cause, and help keep Deryk's memory alive.
