Being nominated for Homecoming Court is something I'm really excited and grateful for, but having the chance to use this opportunity to raise money for the American Heart Association makes it mean so much more to me. I'm raising money in memory of my Pop Pop, who passed away in May 2025.
My Pop Pop went through two open-heart surgeries and lived with heart failure for years. Even through everything he faced, he stayed strong. He meant so much to me and my family, and losing him has been really hard on all of us. I miss having him here for these really big moments that are coming up... my last year of volleyball, graduation, getting into college, and of course, Homecoming Court. Raising money in his honor is one way I can keep his memory with me and turn something that has been so difficult into something helpful and positive.
The American Heart Association works to save and improve lives by funding heart and stroke research, helping improve treatments and care, teaching people about heart health and CPR, and providing resources for people and families affected by cardiovascular disease.
For me, this fundraiser is about way more than Homecoming Court. It's about honoring my Pop Pop, the strength he showed throughout his life, the love he had for our family, and all the memories I'll always have with him. It's also about helping other families hopefully have more time and more memories with the people they love.
