Did you know that nine out of ten people who experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest die?
I didn't either. 90%. It's a lot.
In 2025, my husband Mike was at home recovering from a massive heart attack when he went into cardiac arrest in our bed. Unbeknownst to us, Mike's body was genetically nonresponsive to the anti-platelet the hospital had sent him home on, so his body attacked his newly-placed stint. Mike's life was saved with CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Your donation to the American Heart Association will help fund cardiovascular research but it will also help train more people in the use of CPR and also place AEDs in busy places where the risk of cardiac arrest increases. Help save a life, help someone like Mike.
