Cardiovascular disease remains the number one killer of Americans. The AHA has remained a steadfast supporter of biomedical research in the cardiovascular domain. The AHA was the first extramural organization to give me a grant to support my laboratory. Nearly 25 years later, we continue to discover and to train the next generation of scientists and clinicians.
