For many of us, heart disease and stroke are not distant health issues—they're personal. In my own family, my grandmother suffered several heart attacks throughout her life. Later, while I was in college, my dad suffered a stroke. Those experiences were frightening reminders that heart disease can touch anyone, at any stage of life.

Every family has a story.

Some stories involve a parent. Some involve a grandparent, a spouse, a sibling, a friend, or even ourselves. These experiences remind us that our health is one of the greatest gifts we have and one of the greatest responsibilities we share.
