Walking for My Mother
This year, I walk for my mother, my hero, my inspiration, and the heart of our family.
My mom recently turned 63 this past July, and she has always been the backbone of our family. She is the true definition of strength and selflessness. A hard worker, loving soul, and someone who goes above and beyond for everyone she meets. Bringing joy to others isn’t just something she does, it’s who she is.
At just 37 years old, my mother’s life changed forever when she suffered a stroke that left the left side of her body completely immobilized. Many would have been discouraged by such a life altering event, but not my mom. Her strength, resilience, and determination have continued to shine through every single day.
Despite her disability, she still finds ways to care for others. She cooks meals for family and friends, makes herself available to support loved ones, and even ensures people get to their doctor’s appointments. She does all of this with a smile, maintaining a positive spirit no matter the circumstances.
Her journey didn’t end with her stroke, her story is still being written, and her strength continues to inspire everyone around her, especially me.
She is the reason I walk.
She is the reason I support the American Heart Association!
