I am participating in this walk in support of the American Heart Association because heart disease has had a profound impact on my family.
My father suffered several heart attacks and underwent multiple heart surgeries, including a quadruple bypass. Thanks to advances in heart research and treatment, he was able to live nine more years after his major cardiac event. Those extra years meant everything to our family and gave us memories we otherwise would not have had.
Heart disease has also affected me personally. I was born with a congenital heart defect called a ventricular septal defect (VSD), which has required monitoring throughout my life. Living with a heart condition has shown me how important ongoing research, education, and quality cardiac care are for people of all ages.
I am walking to support those currently facing heart disease, and help fund the research and programs that save lives every day. Every donation, no matter the size, helps advance lifesaving discoveries and brings hope to families like mine.
Thank you for supporting my fundraising efforts and helping the American Heart Association continue its vital mission.
