2026 Capital Region Heart Walk
JJ Rock Nation
Did you know that someone in the U.S. has a heart attack every 40 seconds? JJ Rock Nation was founded 13 years ago to honor the extraordinary life of James Simmons III, known as JJ the Rock. JJ lived with intention, giving hope and spreading joy for 32 years and 32 days. JJ Rock Nation also pays tribute to James Simmons Jr., who also battled heart disease.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men, women, and most racial and ethnic groups in the U.S., claiming nearly 700,000 lives each year—more than cancer and accidental deaths combined.
JJ Rock Nation was established to find a cure for heart disease. We believe that extraordinary things happen when people take action. A small step, a simple skill, or a lifesaving moment can make a difference. The Capital Area Heart Walk brings communities together to foster health and hope for every heartbeat.
Every walker who joins and every dollar donated to JJ Rock Nation contributes to training more people in CPR, advancing research, and creating more lifesaving moments for everyone.
Extraordinary starts with YOU. Join JJ Rock Nation today or support us by donating towards our fundraising goals. Together, we can make a difference.
