2026 Tennessee Valley Heart Walk
Heart & Soul
Why We Walk
The Urban League of Greater Chattanooga is walking because heart health is a civil rights, economic mobility, and community well-being issue.
Heart disease continues to affect Black families at disproportionate rates. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community carrying the consequences of preventable illness, unequal access to care, chronic stress, and other barriers to healthy living. Our State of Black Chattanooga work helps us tell that story through local data and lived experience, but the data must lead to action.
Fielding an Urban League Heart Walk team is one way we turn awareness into action. We are walking in solidarity with the American Heart Association to promote prevention, encourage healthier lifestyles, and connect more people with information and resources that can save lives.
This effort is directly connected to our mission. Good health affects whether people can work, care for their families, pursue education, build wealth, and fully participate in community life. When health outcomes are unequal, opportunity is unequal.
Our staff, Urban League Young Professionals, partners, families, and supporters are coming together to show that the Urban League is not only talking about the health of Chattanooga. We are present, visible, and actively working to improve it.
Join our team, walk with us, or support the fundraising effort. Every step helps raise awareness, strengthen our community, and move Chattanooga toward a healthier and more equitable future.
