In 2022, my life changed forever. Within just one month of experiencing a rapid decline in my health, I learned that I was in need of a heart transplant. I was transported from Memorial Hospital to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where I spent 14 days in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU).

After those 14 days, I received the life-changing news that I had become a heart transplant recipient.

Today, I am incredibly thankful for my second chance at life and forever grateful to my donor and their family for the ultimate gift of life. Their selfless decision gave me the opportunity to continue my journey, create new memories, and live with purpose.

It is an honor to walk in recognition of those who paved the way for me, those who have lost their lives to heart disease, and everyone who continues to battle heart disease each day. I walk with gratitude, hope, and a renewed appreciation for life—and in honor of the gift that made my second chance possible.
