My Why:

Heart disease isn't just a statistic to me. It's my family's story.

Later in life, both of my parents faced serious heart problems. My dad lived with AFib and an enlarged heart, and my mom also had AFib & suffered a stroke along with several TIAs (mini-strokes) caused by her heart condition. I watched the two people who gave me everything struggle with conditions that changed their lives and ours. I saw how scary, exhausting, and uncertain it can be, not just for the patient, but for the whole family who loves them.

That's why I walk.

I walk for my mom and dad. I walk for every family sitting in a hospital waiting room hoping for good news. And I walk because I know that with every step, I'm making a difference in someone's life. When I'm joined by a million other Heart Walk Heroes across the nation, our impact grows even greater in the fight to end heart disease and stroke.
