In 2021, my family experienced firsthand how quickly life can change when my father-in-law suffered a stroke. What began as an ordinary day suddenly became a medical emergency that affected every member of our family. As we navigated hospital visits, rehabilitation, uncertainty, and recovery, we witnessed the physical, emotional, and financial toll that stroke can have not only on the individual but also on their loved ones.
His journey reminded us how critical research, education, prevention, and access to lifesaving care are for families facing heart disease and stroke. While we are grateful for the care he received, many others continue to face these challenges every day.
