My Mom and Dad both had heart disease and the doctors at Cleveland Clinic took excellent care of them as they aged. My mom was a retired nurse and used to teach CPR for years at her hospital and was an advocate for everyone learning CPR. My brother, sister and myself were all CPR certified. She (and my brother) also saved one of my school friend's father at church one Sunday morning by giving CPR. My school friend said she was forever grateful for the extra 6 months she had with her Dad.
I'm also walking for a dear friend, Priscilla, who has heart issues in her family.
9 out of 10 people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. In most of those cases, bystander CPR was not performed. But we can change this.
Cardiac arrests happen at work, in homes, on athletic fields and in neighborhoods everywhere, and the readiness of our community can be the difference between life and death.
It's time to unite, take action, and save lives. Every dollar donated, means more people trained in lifesaving CPR, more research and more lifesaving moments for everyone. Together, we can turn bystanders into lifesavers.
I Walk to Save Lives. Help me reach my goal today.
