2026 New Mexico Heart Walk & 5K Run
Corazon Valiente
In a heartbeat, you could be the difference.
This cause is deeply personal to me. Twenty years ago, I underwent lifesaving surgery to repair a 7.2-centimeter thoracic aortic aneurysm. I am profoundly grateful to be here today, and I don’t take a single heartbeat—or the medical research, skilled care, faith, and prayers that helped save my life—for granted.
That is why I created Team Corazón Valiente—Team Brave Heart for the 2026 American Heart Association Heart Walk.
Nine out of ten people who suffer cardiac arrest outside a hospital do not survive. Most of the time, it is because no one nearby performed CPR. Together, we can help change that.
Extraordinary things happen when people take action: a small step, a simple skill, or a lifesaving moment. The Heart Walk brings communities together to create health and hope for every heartbeat. Every walker who joins us and every dollar donated can help train more people in CPR, advance lifesaving research, and give more families the gift of additional time with someone they love.
On September 19, I will walk with gratitude for the 20 years I have been given—and with hope for everyone facing heart disease, stroke, and aortic conditions.
Extraordinary starts with YOU. Please join Team Corazón Valiente or support our fundraising goal with a donation. Together, we can walk with courage, celebrate survivors, honor loved ones, and help save lives—one brave heart at a time.
