Hey, y’all! Today, I want to share a deeply personal story that transformed my life and opened my eyes to the importance of cardiovascular health at every stage of life.
It all began on a peaceful Sunday morning. After worship, feeling completely worn out, I decided to take a quick nap. With a busy day ahead—packing for a conference and running errands—I planned to wake up refreshed. Instead, I woke up on Tuesday, disoriented and confused. My heart betrayed me; I experienced a myocardial infarction in my sleep at just 31 years old.
Can you imagine? One moment, I was living life to the fullest, and the next, I was facing a reality I never thought I’d encounter. Over the next few months, my journey included a TIA and, seven years later, a stable angina attack. Lastly, after another twelve years, I faced tricuspid valve regurgitation.
But here’s the thing—I’m not just a survivor. I’m a THRIVER. Through it all, I’ve learned the value of each heartbeat and the power of community. With every challenge, I found strength, resilience, and determination make a difference.
That’s why I repeatedly get involved in the American Heart Association's Heart Walk. It’s not just about raising funds; it’s about raising awareness, promoting cardiovascular health, identifying innovative research, and showing that we can positively impact our families, friends, and communities together.
I invite you to join me! Let’s walk hand in hand, virtually or in person, to support vital research, education, and life-saving programs. Your contribution, no matter the size, can bring hope to countless individuals fighting cardiovascular disease.
Extraordinary starts with YOU. Help me reach my goal today!
