On June 4th, 2026, my husband suffered a massive heart attack. He went to Tristar Horizon Medical Center with severe chest pains and shortness of breath. They did an EKG and it came back normal. A nurse saw him and knew something was wrong. She immediately took him back to a room. As I arrived, I could tell he was in bad shape. He was responsive, answering questions, and put himself on the bed from the wheelchair. About 5 minutes after, I noticed the monitor going crazy, looked at him and he immediately seized. His heart completely stopped. No warning, no other signs, it just stopped. Doctors and nurses immediately started life saving measures to help him. I was in hallway and could hear everything. "No pulse!" "Clear!" Over and over again. I was in a state of shock and panic. Doctor came out and ask permission to give him a clot buster medicine. It is a very dangerous medicine. Could either work or not. Huge chance of bleeding internally if there is any damage. I immediately gave him permission to administer this medicine. I continued to hear the worst words possible. I stepped outside because I just knew this was bad. He had a 100% blockage in his LAD artery. Also known as the widow maker artery. After what seemed like forever, they came out and said they have a pulse and I could go see him. I did and I was devastated by the way he looked. Iv's everywhere, tubes in his mouth, color of his face, and the coolness of his hands. I'll NEVER forget that. They then took him to the cath lab and got a stint put into his artery and an impela pump placed to keep his heart beating. The doctor came to me in the waiting room and told us he needs a miracle. I was completely heart broken and everyone immediately started praying. Doctors, nurses, family, friends, even small children from my school! Everyone was praying. My 2 older children where heart broken. His family was heart broken. We were all heart broken. Before they life flighted him to Nashville, they allowed me and our 2 older children to see him. The color was even worse and he felt even more cold. It was the most terrifying thing to see. We headed to Nashville and waited on him to arrive. He got there and nurses came to me to get permission for certain procedures that needed to be done. I cried so loudly, then the nurse looked at me with a confused face. She asked, has anyone updated you in his status? No, they had not. She told us he was awake!!!! He was responsive! He knew he was in the hospital. He knew his name. He remembered everything! After being shocked around 28 times, having procedures done, CPR done for what seemed like eternity, and doctors telling us we needed a miracle, WE GOT ONE!!!! He didn't need a new pump placed in his heart. He didn't need dialyses from all the damage done because his kidneys were healing on their own. Biggest part is his heart had absolutely NO DAMAGE TO HIS HEART! NONE! We were all in shock. We were happy, amazed, and just thrilled. Best of all, God gave us a miracle! There is no other explanation. Even doctors and nurses couldn't believe it! They said this is something they've never seen before. That this was a miracle! We praise God for his work that day And everyday here after. For placing everyone in place to be there for Matt. Matt continues to beat all odds! He is the reason I am participating in this event. Heart health is important. Anything could happen at anytime. Being prepared is important! Knowing the signs and symptoms is very important. I'm thankful that everyone that was in Matt's care knew what to do!!!!
