Why I Walk
Last year I watched my dad walk through the survivor lane and celebrate his journey living with afib. He represents a family of survivors who have had heart murmurs, bypasses, and even one heart transplant. My dad works tirelessly for his heart health so that he can give back – as a husband, father, school teacher, and bad joke teller.
I walk for all the time that I have with Dad, laughing at his dad jokes, benefiting from his sage advice, and getting those big hugs that only dads can give.
But to be honest. . . I also want to be a good leader for my team. Our local team works hard to create a culture of excellence – from how we work with our volunteers, champion and advocate for change, and caring for our thriving families. I am so proud that we are an office where, on any given day, you might find a kid coloring in the wellness room or a dog sleeping on someone’s lap. We take it all seriously.
I am also walking for my team, who work hard and live our mission every day.
We have had incredible impact in our community and across the nation. I am proud to shout our successes at every turn! But there is so much left to be done, so many people who need more education, so many stronger policies out there, so many partners to be lifted up with our resources.
I ask for your support in honor of my family and our local team, and for the continued impact we can have together!
Thank you!
