My connection to the American Heart Association is deeply personal.
My son, Brooks, was born with a congenital heart defect and underwent open-heart surgery at just 11 months old. Because of advancements in research, he received a successful repair that has allowed him to thrive. The little boy who celebrated his first birthday in a hospital room is now a healthy, energetic four-year-old who recently finished his first tee-ball season.
Not long after Brooks' surgery, my father suffered a significant stroke that forced him into medical retirement. Thanks to coworkers who recognized the warning signs and a medical team that acted quickly, he received the care he needed to survive and recover. Today, I am grateful for every moment we still get to share.
These experiences showed me firsthand why the American Heart Association's work matters. Through lifesaving research, education, and programs like Get With The Guidelines®, families like mine have hope when they need it most.
I support this mission because it gives people more time. More birthdays. More ballgames. More family dinners. More memories.
Today, I walk in honor of my son, Brooks, and my father, Tim. Will you join me by making a donation to my Heart Walk team?
Your gift helps fund the next breakthrough, educate families, and save lives. Together, we can help create more moments and more tomorrows for families facing heart disease and stroke.
Thank you for supporting a cause that means so much to me and my family.
