The Heart and Stroke Walk is a wonderful cause.
I am fairly new to UCLA Health, however, not new to the cause. My father was diagnosed in early 2018 with Congestive Heart Failure. With limited options, and his health declining quickly- our only real hope for my father’s health was to seek a possible heart transplant. Given several factors, it looked as though we would have a very long road for a possible donor, match, and even after- recovery. With all that uncertainty, months in the hospital, we were blessed to find a donor and a match. It was and still is bitter sweet because while others were mourning the loss of their loved one, we were rejoicing in the hope of a new healthier life for our father.
At present day, two years post heart transplant, my father is living, healthy, possibly healthier than ever before. All thanks to the most precious gift that anyone could ever give –LIFE. I thank that beautiful soul whom although we never had the privilege to know anything from them, were so selfless in giving, that their life, although no longer physically here, is still very present in their family but also in ours as they continue to live in my father’s body.
This cause will literally be forever in my heart and in so many others.
