In April, 2018 I was diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm that carried a 1 in 7 chance of an almost certainly fatal rupture within a year. Days later I had lifesaving open heart surgery to correct it and am celebrating a full recovery that has allowed me to get back to doing all the things I love.
With all of our medical advances, this issue was found largely by accident and there is still a significant amount of luck involved in many of the success stories I’ve heard over the past year as I’ve shared my story. More research is needed to improve our ability to detect and treat cardiovascular diseases!
I'm also walking to remember my father who lost his life to a stroke in 2016 at 67 years old. With the best care in the world there was no way we could save him. This silent killer takes loved ones from their families each and every day.
The procedure that I had was developed in my lifetime with help from research and technology advances that made it possible. While my wife and I were starting our family, doctors and researchers were performing trials on the complex techniques that are now performed thousands of times per year on cases like mine.
Imagine the impact if we could reduce death and disability from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by 20 percent by 2025! Please help me to advance research and support programs by donating today. Together, we can make healthier, longer lives possible for everyone.
Thank you in advance for your support!
