I'll be jogging the 5k with my amazing husband and pup, as part of my fabulous company's team. This 5k is extremely personal for me and will be done wholly in my heart in memory of my mom, grandmother and grandfather, all of whom died from heart disease complications. Heart disease runs in my mom's entire side of the family, meaning chances are I'm at risk too, so this is a deeply important cause.
Since mom's sudden passing in January, I've continued motivating myself as much as possible to keep getting out and being active with Frizbee, because I know mom would want me to keep that up and because it's something that I can do to try and reduce my risk of the more serious complications from heart disease.
Friz and I hadn't gotten back into our virtual 5k routine yet, but I was just about to start looking into some to sign up for, so having this 5k for the American Heart Association as our first official post-mom 5k seems incredibly fitting and additionally meaningful.
Anything you can do will mean the world to me. Every donation this year will be considered a direct memorial to mom and added wind in my sails as I run the 5k. Your donation will fund groundbreaking research that literally keeps hearts beating and helps people have longer, healthier lives - including, but not limited to, all of those who have heart disease running rampant in their genes like I do.
Thank you in advance to everyone who contributes!
