We walk for Eva-Ann. Eva-Ann was born with a life-threatening heart defect called Hyperplastic Left Heart Syndrom which means the left side of her heart is so small that it is essentially not there. She was also born without an aorta. The diagnosis of HLHS is 100% fatal without surgical intervention. There is no cure for HLHS however there are is a 3 surgery approach to prolong the lives of children with HLHS. Eva-Ann has had all three open-heart surgeries, her first surgery was over 17 hours long at just 8 days old, her second surgery was over 13 hours long at 3 months old and on May 13, 2021 Eva-Ann had the final stage repair and was in the operating room for over 10 hours. In her short two years of life, Eva-Ann has been on heart bypass 3 times where her heart and her lungs were completely stopped for over 18 hours combined in those three surgeirs. Eva-Ann is not only a heart warrior but she is also a stroke survior. Eva-Ann had her first stroke at just 2 months old, and in February 2021 she had another stroke. Fundraisers such as this helps with research of understanding hearts like Eva-Ann's. Have a heart and help me reach my goal today!
