REGISTRATION

Is there a registration fee?

Yes, the fee is $60 to run, walk, or participate virtually which counts as a full donation to the American Heart Association. All registrants receive a 2022 Wall Street Run & Heart Walk t-shirt which is available for pickup on the day of Heart Walk if you are participating in person and will be mailed directly to virtual participants.

Walkers receive a standard bib to WALK our 5K course.

Runners receive a time-enabled bib to RUN our 5K course and qualify for awards in our competitive race, given to the top 3 male and female finishers.

Is there a deadline to register?

Due to popular demand, we are excited to extend online registration until May 19th at 5PM or until Sold Out. Please note that all participants who register after May 5th will need to pick up their bib on the day of Heart Walk in the Brookfield Place Festival area between 12-5PM.

How do I receive my participation bib?

The following companies will be distributing bibs at their offices. Please contact your staff partner for information on how you can receive your bib.

For all other companies, we offer two options for public bib pickup:

Option 1: Pre-event Public Pick up 5/17-5/18

The American Heart Association will be hosting public bib pickups at our midtown office for TEAM CAPTAINS and COMPANY LEADERS ONLY. We ask that one person picks up and coordinates distribution with their team members.

10 E 40th St, 11th Floor (between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue)
All guests must be registered in advance to enter the building and show ID upon arrival.
Please contact your AHA staff partner or reach out to nycheartwalk@heart.org to arrange your pickup.  

   
Option 2: Event Day Public Pick up 5/19

Any team captain or individual participant who has not picked up their bib by 5/19 can do so at the Registration Tent on the Brookfield Place Festival grounds starting at 12PM. All bibs will be sorted individually.

Can I register on event day (5/19)?

Yes! But with a few conditions:
        •    All registrations must be done online.
        •    Registrations will only be accepted until 5PM.
        •    After 5/17, participants will only be able to register as a walker. We do not have the ability to equip bibs with timing chips after this date, but you are still welcome to run the course should you choose to do so!

Are there age limits for registration?

We ask that parents please use their discretion when bringing children to participate in the Heart Walk. Please note that the event will have thousands of attendees and may be overwhelming for young children.

Please note that strollers are not permitted on the course.

How do I participate virtually/remotely?

All virtual participants registered by Wednesday, May 18th will receive an email from ATHLINKS confirming that you have been added as a participant to the Digital Wall Street Run & Heart Walk. Open this email and click the link to “GO TO YOUR VIRTUAL RACE PAGE” to enter your time. Submissions will be open until midnight on Sunday, May 22nd. Each participant will receive a custom URL linked to their registration, and walkers DO NOT need to upload their times.

Virtual participants who register by May 5th will receive their 2022 Heart Walk t-shirt in the mail by 5/19 to wear while they Heart Walk wherever they are!

Virtual participants who register between May 6-17 will receive their 2022 Heart Walk t-shirt at a later date.

If I participated last year, how do I get my login information?

Oops. Forgot your login? Recover it here using the "Forgot Username or Password" link. You can also contact nycheartwalk@heart.org to have your password reset.

Can I participate in Heart Walk if I'm not on a Team?

Sure, you can walk and fundraise individually. Every donation raised will help create big science! But hey, since you’re already on board, maybe consider starting a team and asking friends, family and coworkers to join you to also be Heart Walk heroes. It’s easy, and we’ll walk you through each step.


FUNDRAISING

Is there a fundraising minimum?

No, and there’s no maximum either! We encourage every participant to make a difference by asking friends and family for donations and making a personal donation.

How are donations made?

Donations can be made securely to your personal fundraising page with a credit card, PayPal, Venmo and more. Cash and checks may also be collected. All checks should be made payable to the American Heart Association. Fun fact? You can deposit checks directly through the Heart Walk App!

Will I receive a Heart Walk t-shirt?

All registered participants receive the official NYC Heart Challenge T-shirt.  Additionally, when you raise over $100, you have the opportunity to redeem Heart Walk Hero Gear from our Heart Walk Rewards Center located in your Heart Walk Headquarters and in the Heart Walk App. There are so many cool options to choose and the best part is they will be shipped directly to you after you redeem them. The Rewards Center is available pre-Walk and up to 6 weeks post-Walk for redemption! We can't wait to see what you pick!

Can I fundraise after Walk day?

Of course! Who are we to stop you from achieving fundraising fame? Your fundraising page will stay open for approximately 6 weeks after the event. You can also submit cash and checks to your local American Heart Association office at any time.

Is there a Heart Walk App?

Yes! Our app, for both iPhone and Android, has everything need and more! Connect with others through social media, email and text, manage your pages and even deposit checks! You can even pre-schedule posts ahead of time on Facebook and LinkedIn. This is also where the Move More Challenge activity tracker will show up 30 days before your Heart Walk date!

How do I fundraise on Facebook?

It is fun to raise funds on Facebook so we are glad you asked! Log into your Heart Walk Headquarters and go to "MY DASHBOARD" then scroll down & click "CONNECT TO FACEBOOK FUNDRAISER". Once you do so, all donations received through Facebook will be credited to your fundraising page and go toward your Walk.

What kind of support will I or my team receive?

Real live Heart Walk staff and volunteers are ready to help every step of the way with fundraising tools, resources and any other support you may need. You also have to check out all of the tools in the Heart Walk Headquarters under the resources tab once you register.

Should I bring any funds I did not raise online to walk day or drop it off somewhere before the event?

We accept funds anytime! Contact your local AHA staff and they will share all of the money pick up/drop off opportunities.


THE HEART WALK EXPERIENCE

Are there activities pre-Walk Day to take part in?

Yes, the Move More Activity Challenge starts 30 days prior to your Heart Walk date. Simply download the Heart Walk App and 30 days prior to the Walk the activity challenge icon will appear and you will be able to start tracking your minutes of activity. During the final Heart Walk week there is also a Week of Wellness with daily inspiration for your overall health and well-being. Register early so you don’t miss out!

What is the Move More Activity Challenge?

We could all use some help to keep moving and stay in touch. The Move More Challenge will get you moving while protecting the hearts you love. Simply download the Heart Walk App or if you already have the app make sure to update it. 30 days prior to your walk date, the activity tracker icon will appear in your app. You’ve got 30 days to log your activity minutes and see if you can reach 150 minutes a week. Any activity counts, you can walk, run or dance. Just get moving and make sure to activate your workout so we count your minutes. There is even a leaderboard for top movers. Register today to get all of the updates about the Move More Activity Challenge. Your Activity Tracker will go live 30 days before your Heart Walk!


WALK DAY

Are course maps available?

Course map is available!

Are there timing corrals for runners?

Yes, there will be marked areas for runners to line up according to their anticipated mile time.

How do I receive my time?

All runner bibs come equipped with a timing chip that begins your time when you cross the start line and ends when you cross the finish. You can access your results via a QR code in our festival area.

How many water stops are on the course?

There are two water stops on course and water available for all participants in the festival area.

Can I bring a bag?

Backpacks are NOT allowed at the event site or on the route, however we offer complimentary baggage check to all participants in the festival area.

If you wish to check a bag at the race, you will be given a clear drawstring bag at packet pick up to empty the contents of your bag into. The bag dimensions are 16 (w) x 18 (l) with a 4 inch gusset (depth). All contents and your personal bag must fit within the clear plastic bag. When you arrive to the bag check you will get a bag check number to affix to the clear bag and one to affix to your bib. Please make sure the label is stuck securely to your bib.

There will be security guards at baggage, however, participants are advised not to bring any valuables, as security cannot be guaranteed. Eventage and AHA are not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items. We strongly advise participants not to bring laptops or electronics to the event.

Can I bring my dog?

No, sorry! We love animals, but they are not allowed on the courses unless they are assisting visually or otherwise physically impaired participants.

Is there an inclement weather policy?

This event is rain or shine. Your safety is our priority. In the event of severe weather- including lightning, high winds, or extreme heat or cold- the Race Director has the discretion to delay the start time or cancel the race prior to or during the race.

Will the Heart Walk be in person this year?

We're moving forward with plans to host the Heart Walk in person in most markets around the nation. The health and safety of our survivors, participants, staff and volunteers will be our top priorities as we make decisions about day of event details. We'll continue to offer options to participate for everyone’s comfort level no matter whether you join us in person or in your favorite park or in your neighborhood. Choose our path or yours. No matter where you choose to walk, participating and donating to Heart Walk will save lives and improve lives. Can I wear a mask to the Heart Walk?

Absolutely. Our events are mask-friendly.

I’m not yet ready to venture out to the Heart Walk, but I still want to participate. Are there options for me?

You bet! Simply choose the VIRTUAL option when registering to take part in the full experience where you are most comfortable. Pick a location that inspires you or stroll through your neighborhood. We have some digital options to stay connected on Walk day including our new Heart Walk On Demand Playlist. Check out your local walk website for more details. Don’t forget to post photos and tag us too!  PLEASE NOTE: Virtual participants will not receive an official bib to gain entry to the Wall Street Run & Heart Walk course on 5/19/22.  If you wish to switch your registration type, please contact nycheartwalk@heart.org

What is the Heart Walk On Demand Playlist?

Get your groove on with us and be connected as one no matter where you walk with our new Heart Walk On Demand Playlist. The playlist is a great collection of music and mission to inspire every step! The playlist will be available the week of the Heart Walk and you will have access to it directly from your local Heart Walk website.

Is there a check-in/registration area day of walk?

No, there is not check-in/registration area day of walk. All participants will have the opportunity to receive their official bib prior to Heart Walk day through your company’s distribution channels or a designated pickup area. We will also have bibs available in the Festival area on event day for those who did not receive theirs in advance. If you have received your bib in advance, simply lace up, show up and walk or run with us! If you have cash or checks, please contact your local AHA staff and they will share all of the money pick up/drop off opportunities with you.

How long is the Wall Street Run & Heart Walk?

Our course is officially 3 MILES and all RUNNERS will receive their official timing results after they have crossed the finish line.

Is there any special recognition for survivors of heart disease and stroke?

Of course, survivors are the heart of the Heart Walk! They’re given commemorative red or white ball caps to wear during the Walk to show their triumph over heart disease or stroke. Check with your local staff for more specific information on additional recognition.
