May 2022
Hello again,
I have officially retired as of June 30, 2021. We have been updating our new home in Halfmoon as well as traveling in our new RV Motorhome. We have a new place to "park" our RV in Hilton Head Island and have spent most of the winter there. Looking forward to getting back to Halfmoon to enjoy the spring and summer and complete the landscaping aroiund the house.
This will be my 4th year on the Leaders with Heart team for the Heartwalk. As a member of this team, I have committed to donate $5,000.00 personally and reach out to my supporters to reach a much higher goal as a team.
I am still on the Advisory Board of the AHA here in the Capital Region finishing up my 3rd year of my 3-year commitment. This is such important and rewarding work. It is a whole new world we are living in now with all sorts of new “normal” and we are lucky to have great leadership and energy on the board.
Debbie and I are still involved the HeartBrothers Foundation. This is a group of heart transplant survivors that are giving back by engaging with heart failure patients in many of the transplant centers in New England, sharing their journey, answering questions and concerns of these patients and their families and where possible, providing grants to make the waiting and recovery times more inclusive for the families. Many transplant patients live hundreds of miles from the hospitals where they will ultimately have to spend many weeks both in the hospital and rehabilitation. heartbrothers.org
I had my 5-year heart transplant anniversary in February. I feel great, happy, healthy and I am forever grateful for all the wonderful things I have been able to experience and accomplish with this amazing gift. I have met so many interesting people, traveled to all sorts of places and am really making the most of my “second chance”.
I am happy to report that we will be walking "IN PERSON" this year on June 5th. I am looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting the many new walkers that have committed to walk this year for the American Heart Association. We collectively, do our best to raise the funds critical to support the groundbreaking research provided by all the local labs, schools and companies that we are blessed to have here in the capital region.
I would invite anyone interested to join us on June 5th to enjoy a really fun few hours.
Thank you, as always for your continued support.
